MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 8: Iqbal Nathani, a race horse owner who was the principal man behind the Clash of the Titans show last year, said that international riders have again agreed to fly down and compete against Indian counterparts. Last year’s net proceeds of Rs 23 lakh was given to Disabled Jockey Fund (DJF), a trust floated by Jockey Association of India to assist retired and injured jockeys. This year, half of the net income will be given to the DJF and the remaining is likely to be credited in favour of Cyces Welfare Fund.

Nathani said that KN Dhunjibhoy of Nanoli Stud had agreed to sponsor all the five events — The Nanoli Stud Juvenile Stakes, The Indictment Stakes, The Dangerous Liaison Stakes, The Lei Stakes and The Thumbelina Stakes. Riders will be drawn by lot from the two (International and Indian) teams.

The international team will consist of Pat Eddery (captain), Kieren Fallon, Kevin Darley, Gerald Mosse, Michael Hills, Jimmy Fortune, Richard Hughes, Paul Eddery, N McCullagh and Mark Gallagher.The members of the Indian team will be Pesi Shroff (captain), M Narredu, C Rajendra, YS Srinath, Warren Singh, K Ganesh, S Rajesh, B Prakash, Bajrang Singh and M Kharadi.

The Dr SC Jain Sprinters Gold Trophy and The General Obaidullah Khan Trophy are also included in the day’s programme. Another race, The Fantasie Lindt Chocolate Trophy, will be sponsored by the makers of Fantasie chocolates.
