As if training with the glittering stars of Bayern Munich wasn’t enough of a dream, six youngsters now have the opportunity to travel to the German giants’ academy for a training stint.

Today’s afternoon session saw some more memorable moments at the CC&FC ground when the German side imparted some of their skills to 48 boys between the ages of 9 to 15. The football-crazy viewers at the ground watched legendary custodian Oliver Kahn and his team mates conveying the art of dribbling and shooting to the eager pupils.

Chosen ones

Six boys who impressed Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld with their footballing basics were chosen to make the trip to Munich. The selected players, Ziarat Ali, Subham Sarkar (Burdwan), Yoken Confectioner, Bridant Jaiswal, Suraj Dhopi (Kolkata) and Joel Fernandes (Goa) will have a rare chance to travel to Munich.

Meanwhile, tomorrow will be Kahn’s adieu to competitive soccer as Bayern Munich meet local side Mohun Bagan in an exhibition floodlit tie at the Salt Lake stadium here. According to the Indian Football Association (IFA), almost 95,000 tickets for tomorrow’s historic tie have been sold out.
