Pune lad, Arya Nitin Bhivpathaki became Maharashtra’s top seeded player on Thursday after winning the Late Sunila Barve junior state level badminton tournament which took place recently at the PYC Gymkhana badminton courts. Arya is a student of standard IV in the Hutchings High School. He has been training for the past four years at the Baburao Sanas Badminton courts under coaches Manjusha Sahasrabuddhe and Prakash Dhavle.Apart from winning the Late Sunila Barve tournament, he has also won a hat trick of tournaments at the Pune district level. Those include the HTBA junior badminton championship in April, the Amonora Cup in June and Pune district championship in July. He also reached the finals of the second Maharashtra state junior selection tournament in Thane in November, the state open badminton championship in Latur in September and the first junior state selection badminton tournament in Kochi. He reached the quarter finals of two all India junior ranking tournaments, one held in Chandigarh in November and another held in Kochi in Chandigarh.
