
Tribute day for Y B Chavan
The state government decided to observe November 25 every year as Y B Chavan Sanskriti Din8217;. Announcing this at a post cabinet press briefing at Mantralaya, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said the cultural department will chalk out a suitable programme to observe the day in memory of the late leader. Essay writing and elocution competitions, environmental protection awareness and other educational programmes on the life and times of Y B Chavan will be held as part of the Sanskriti Din8217;, he said.
Sports exhibition at Nehru Centre
A Science of Sports8217; exhibition at Nehru Science Centre was inaugurated today by Dr R Chidambaram, chairperson of the Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy. The exhibition is an attempt to bring out the scientific and technological aspects of sporting activity. After a 55-day run in Mumbai, it will travel to other parts of the country.
Shanmukhananda function put off
The dedication ceremony of the Shanmukhananda Hall by the President KR Narayanan slated for Thursday, November 25 has been postponed. It will not take place as announced earlier owing to the indisposition of the president, a release from the Sabha informed.
NGO mela from November 26
Concern India foundation has organised an NGO Mela between November 26 and 28 at the Y B Chavan Centre, Nariman Point between 11 am and 9 pm to give people the opportunity to know about the activities and programmes of various NGOs.
