The cholera epidemic that gripped Padra taluka has spread to three more villages Bhanpur, Nedra and Dhanoli on Friday.

Though no new deaths were reported from any of the affected villages, a 10-point action plan has been implemented in Abhor, Sampla, Sankarpura, Masad, Karjat villages and other affected villages.

District Collector Bhagyesh Jha on Friday confirmed that three persons had died of cholera over the last few days. The death of five other persons were due to some other reasons, he said.‘‘We have conducted a survey of 14,000 people and 2,700 households and people showing any symptoms related to the epidemic have been taken to health centres,’’ Jha said.

The health officials seem to be on their toes to contain the spread of the epidemic. So far eight villages have been affected, and more than 200 cases of epidemic-related illnesses have been reported so far. On Friday, 32 new cases, including 25 from Kanzat, were reported.

The Food and Drugs Laboratory officials raided many food joints in the affected villages.
