CHENNAI, July 15: The outbreak of cholera in the Korukkupet area of the city appears to be on the decline, with only four of the 22 persons admitted to the Communicable Diseases Hospital today hailing from the area. A total of 122 persons are now being treated at the hospital for cholera. Authorities said incidence of cholera at Korukkupet was high because of the insanitary conditions prevailing there.

In May, Operation Sindoor resulted in the death of 100 Pakistani soldiers and destruction of 11 air bases and air assets by the Indian Air Force. The operation, led by Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, was launched after a terror attack in Pahalgam and saw the killing of over 100 terrorists. Jammu and Kashmir have faced 28,000 terror incidents since the late 1980s.
