Kolkata, January 16: If you are still wondering why Chile are no producing the “Latino spark†ask their World Cup coach Nelson Acosta. “Hard ground conditions and lack of match practice,†was his candid reply about their indifferent form in the Sahara Cup here.

But with their place in the quarterfinal confirmed, Acosta, however, feels his boys will come up with a much better show against Uzbekistan on Wednesday. In another match, Japan, with one win and a loss, will square up with Bahrain. Firm favourites Chile infact require a much more disciplined performance. Given the fact that the Uzbeks have improved leaps and bounds in every match Acosta will definitely try to chalk out a different strategy to stop the Central Asians, particularly, Uzbekistan’s Annamatov Bahadir.

With his scorching sprints down the right the short-statured wing-half tormented the Bahrain defence. Bahadir also has the nose for scoring goals – he scored a brace in his team’s 5-0 rout over Bahrain. Upfront Zhdanov Aleksey and Usmankhodjaev Oybek too looked impressive and are likely to give the vulnerable Chilean defence a tough time. Acosta need to stitch the defence in time against the unpredictable Uzbeks. Moreover, the thrust and pentration in their attack is starkly missing from a team which boasts of a bunch of Olympians and a two World Cuppers.

Chile’s only saving grace till now has been their attacking third of Fernando Martel, Hector Tapia and Francisco Arrue. The trio infact are carrying that extra load in orchestrating the moves by themselves and then delivering the knock-out punch.
