In a bid to eliminate all forms of child labour from Andhra Pradesh by the end of 2005, the Andhra Pradesh trade and industry is all set to market their products and services with the label ‘‘We Do Not Engage In Child Labour’’.

A consensus to this effect emerged at a state-level meet ‘‘to develop common approaches and policies for employers’ organisations on the removal of child labour’’ organised by the Federation of AP Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) here today.

Pushing the proposal, International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s state-based project manager M.P. Joseph told a gathering of employers that changing public perception would compel the industry to tag the ‘‘no child labour’’ label to their products and services.

In a detailed presentation, he warned that unless society developed a social safety mechanism to train the school enrolled child labour into a skilled workforce, the child labour elimination campaign would go the way of Family Planning during the Emergency era.
