Bihar Governor Buta Singh met Home Minister Shivraj Patil for 35 minutes today to brief him on the controversy surrounding the transfer of 17 IPS officers and State Chief Secretary G S Kang’s ‘protest leave’.

Later, Buta Singh told reporters that he had certain differences with Kang on the issue, adding that the Chief Secretary had raised objections to two of the transfers.

‘‘I conveyed to the Chief Secretary that if he is not willing to effect the changes, the State will do the needful,’’ said Singh.

Sources said Patil also advised the Governor to stay clear of controversies. The Home Ministry had asked for a report from the Bihar government on the transfers only to realise that Secretary (Home Department), A K Biswas had proceeded on leave, too.
