Chhattisgarh Minister for Mines and Public Relations Rampukar Singh had a narrow escape on Saturday night when armed miscreants attacked and robbed his convoy in Jaspur district bordering Jharkhand. Singh was returning from an official tour to his hometown Pathalgaon.About half-a-dozen masked miscreants attacked his armed guards with swords and other weapons and injured the driver of the escort vehicle, Singh said. The miscreants had blocked the Jaspur-Pathalgaon road with boulders Surprisingly, his guards did not challenge the miscreants, he said. The Minister informed police at Kunkuri, 15 km from the site. But the accused managed to escape in a Maruti which was later found near a village.Singh said: ‘‘I will inform the Chief Minister of the affects of removing red-lights and sirens from ministers’ vehicles. It could be dangerous while passing through Naxalite areas.’’ DIG of Police (Intelligence) Sanjay Pillai, said police have sealed all entry points and started combing operation in area.
