CHENNAI, June 9: Citizens of Chennai, reeling under unusually high temperatures for a long while, received a measure of relief when sharp showers cooled the city for a while this evening. The showers were brief, but welcome nevertheless, as they brought down the oppresively high temperatures of 41.4 degrees C recorded at Nungambakkam and 41.7 degrees C recorded at Meenambakkam.
