Check Cong track-record first: BJP to Sonia

The BJP today asked Sonia Gandhi to check the track-record of Congress chief ministers rather than use the Mount Abu conclave to criticise the NDA.

Party spokesman Arun Jaitley listed the failures of Congress chief ministers. He said that Ashok Gehlot, the host at the conclave, should account for the starvation deaths in Rajasthan. Digvijay Singh should explain the 22 starvation deaths in Madhya Pradesh besides the underdevelopment in the state.

Jaitley said Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna had to cut a sorry figure before the Supreme Court and his people on the Cauvery dispute. While the A.K. Antony government in Kerala has no money to pay salaries, the Maharashtra coalition is facing internal contradictions.

‘‘We would have appreciated if she (Sonia) had pulled up her chief ministers,’’ he said.
