CHANDIGARH, NOV 25: Leader of Opposition Om Prakash Chautala yesterday alleged that relatives and persons close to Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal and other top functionaries of the HVP-BJP government had cornered Rajasthan’s share of inter-state bus permits in an illegal manner.
Claiming that he had details of 49 permits, Chautala said 26 of these had gone to the chief minister’s relatives, 16 to Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma’s relatives, five to persons close to Speaker Chhattar Singh Chauhan, and two to Transport Minister Krishan Pal Gujjar’s relatives.
Chautala demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. “Otherwise, we may have to file a petition in public interest,” he said.
Chautala also demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of a doctor, Raman Bhandari, who was shot dead in Bhiwani town on November 12, saying that fingers were being raised at influential people. “His wife is not being allowed to meet anyone,” he alleged.
He lashed out that the HVP-BJP government for “a complete breakdown of law and order”, accused it of backing out of its commitments regarding a ban on lotteries and nationalisation of mines, and said it had lost all right to continue. Reiterating his demand for fresh elections in the State under President’s rule, Chautala said the youth wing of the Lok Dal would hold a convention of youths and students at Kurukshetra tomorrow to chalk out a programme of democratic agitation to uproot the government.
According to Chautala, among the relatives of Bansi Lal who had got bus permits were his brother Raghbir Singh, Dharam Pal and Jai Pal.
