The Bihar Vigilance investigating bureau today filed chargesheet against high-profile former Patna District Magistrate Gautam Goswami in the urban development scam.
The bureau, which had lodged an FIR against Goswami on September 17 and put him on remand on September 22, filed the chargesheet in the Vigilance court of Ram Niwas Prasad.
Goswami had been featured in the prestigious Time magazine in past and is the recipient of an award from the magazine for his work before being embroiled in any scam.
Goswami and the then district planning officer of Patna, J J B Tirkey, have been accused of committing irregularities in implementation of Swaran Jyanti Urban Employment Scheme and national slum development programme to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore by allocating money to many ‘non-existing’ NGOs.
Money was given to the ‘favourite’ NGOs as advance without following the due process by the then Patna DM Goswami, according to the charges.
Goswami is currently lodged at Beur jail in connection with flood relief scam.
