MUMBAI, July 21: Former Chief Justice of India, Mr YV Chandrachud would “discuss” with four former Test stars, including the manager of the 1991 Indian cricket team to Sharjah, Ashok Mankad, about the match-fixing allegations by former Indian all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar at Cricket Club of India (CCI) tomorrow.
Mr Chandrachud told PTI here today that former Indian captain and manager of the team from 1992 South Africa tour to 1996 World Cup, Ajit Wadekar, former Indian skipper Dilip Vengsarkar and Test discard and a member of the India team for the Wills Trophy at Sharjah in October 1991, Sanjay Manjrekar, would also be called.
“It will be a simple discussion” with the four former Test stars he said pointing out that the meeting should not be termed as a “probe or investigation”.
Justice Mr Chandrachud was appointed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to enquire into the allegations of match-fixing and betting by some senior Indian cricket players.
Justice Mr Chandrachud has already discussed at length with Prabhakar and another Indian all-rounder and world record holder for highest wickets in Test cricket, Kapil Dev, at Delhi a couple of weeks back.
