Withdraw first, talks later: US
The Clinton administration believes the last intruders who crossed the Line of Control (LoC) from Pakistan have not fully withdrawn and New Delhi is justified in not talking to Islamabad till that happens. “Our information is the process (of withdrawal) is not fully complete, although it is more or less completed,” US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Rick Inderfurth said on Friday. Asked if India was justified in taking the position that it will not entertain talks with Pakistan till the withdrawal process is complete, Inderfurth said, “I think that is a fair position.”
