Mexico joined Germany and Argentina in the Confederations Cup semi-finals on Sunday, leaving Brazil to battle Japan for the final berth.

Mexico stunned world champions Brazil 1-0 in Hanover after Japan beat European champions Greece by the same score in the day’s other Group B match in Frankfurt. Germany and Argentina had clinched spots in the last four with wins on Saturday.

Jared Borgetti went from villain to hero as his goal gave Mexico their second straight win. Germany and Argentina, who are also unbeaten in their two Group A matches, meet on Tuesday.

Borgetti, who failed to score in the first half despite taking a penalty three times, emerged as the match-winner by glancing home a 59th-minute header when he escaped his marker Kaka and left goalkeeper Dida stranded.
