New Delhi, March 22: The Centre today announced that ten additional companies of paramilitary forces comprising about 1,000 men would soon be rushed to Bihar besides the 30 companies of CRPF already `available undisturbed’ to the state government for policing, anti-naxalite and anti-Ranvir Sena operations.

Union Home Secretary B P Singh, however, said “deep administrative introspection and correctives” were an imperative requirement for effecting policing and restoration of rule of law in Bihar.

Apart from these companies, deployment in the state had been raised by sending four companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) from UP and nine of Central industrial security force (CISF).

Of these, 14 BMP companies were deployed in Jehanabad, 16 in Patna, six each in Gaya and Aurangabad and five each in Chatra and Palamau, sources later said.

Meanwhile, CRPF director general M N Sabherwal submitted a report to the Union home ministry on the law and order situation in the state and the available strength of paramilitary forces to deal with the situation.Sabherwal, who visited Bihar last week, is stated to have also said in his report that about 50 per cent of the total strength of BMP was deployed in dealing with the menace of private armies and extremists.
