The BJP could not have asked for a better Diwali gift. With the Union Cabinet deciding to revoke Presidential rule in Karnataka and advising the Governor to invite BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa to form a government, the party is set to get its first chief minister in a southern state.

Yeddyurappa will meet Governor Rameshwar Thakur tomorrow to initiate the process of government formation.

Soon after the Centre decided to revoke President’s rule in the state, Yeddyurappa received a call from Thakur. “I was at Vaishno Devi temple when I received the information about the Centre’s decision. I also got a call from the Governor,” he told reporters in New Delhi.

He drove to party chief Rajnath Singh’s residence soon after his arrival in Delhi and said he was confident the BJP-JD(S) government will complete its term.
