The Centre has agreed in principle to the Punjab Government’s proposal for the development of Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo. This was disclosed by Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni at a meeting of the sub-committee for Commemoration of Tercentenary of Guru-ta-Gaddi to be held in Nanded in October next year, an official release said.

“A Cabinet note to get the necessary clearances from the Union Government will be moved soon,” she said. The development programmes of Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo will cost the exchequer Rs 183 crore. The National Highway from Talwandi Sabo to Nanded is proposed to be named after Guru Gobind Singhji and this project will be developed by the Centre.
