Top officials in the CBI have told The Indian Express that they have “prima facie evidence” of Ashok Todi, father of Priyanka Todi, having established “secret access” to some relatives of Rizwanur Rehman who could have received money for helping him “facilitate” the separation between his daughter and her husband.CBI officers say the relatives have been identified and their names would be made public “at the appropriate time.”Rukbanur Rehman, brother of Rizwanur Rehman, when contacted said that CBI officials had been “mounting pressure” on them to admit to “money dealings” with the Todis. “They (the CBI) had come several times asking us who had taken money from the Todis. We told them what an absurd thing you are telling us. How can we take money from the Todis who were out to kill my brother?”But CBI officials claim that the payment was made in cash to one of the uncles of Rizwanur. Rizwanur has five uncles, most of whom live in the same neighbourhood. Ashok Todi is said to have roped in at least two very close members of the family — one for collecting information about Priyanka and Rizwanur and their plans, the other to help in the separation after which Priyanka was sent back to her father. Agency sources said that Rizwanur, too, was aware of this and this was one reason why he had stopped staying at home and had chosen to live elsewhere.
