After initial reluctance, a CBI team reached here to start the preliminary investigations in the ‘‘unwed mother scandal’’ involving a former Uttaranchal minister. A day earlier, another team of CBI probing poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case also raided a few places here.

According to officials, the team probing the Madhumita case were looking for some suspects believed to be hiding in the Doon valley.R.K. Bhakta, ASP of CBI, made preliminary inquiries in the ‘‘unwed murder’’ case. Earlier, CBI had shown its reluctance to proceed in the case in the absence of any complaint or FIR in the case.

The CBI team met police officials of Uttaranchal to make inquiries in the case. A senior CBI official is also expected to reach here tomorrow.
