The CBI has booked 194 people, including 126 public servants, in nationwide raids against corrupt officials. The raids have yielded Rs 1.11 crore in cash and led to the detection of assets worth over Rs 10.05 crore. The agency, which raided 249 places, has registered 68 cases for various offences.
The aim is anti-corruption work, said CBI director U.S. Misra, adding that the raids were a step in that direction. Two IRS officers, Airport Director-Hyderabad, former IMD director, Hindustan Shipyard Ltd GM, senior commercial manager, Railways, passport officials and a director I-T, were among those booked. In exports-related cases, several officials of the DGFT, Customs, Department of Economic Affairs have been booked for giving fake duty-exemption certificates.
