The Shunglu Committee, constituted by the HRD Ministry to probe the leak of Common Admission Test (CAT) papers, has sent a questionnaire to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The one-member committee has put forth four queries to the IIM-A director and has given him two weeks to respond. The questions are: • How is CAT administered?• Were there any deviations from norms this time?• How did the leak take place? • How can the system be improved? The findings of an informal inquiry by the institute, which cover the first two points mentioned in this questionnaire, were conveyed to the ministry and the CBI. It was only after this that the CBI gave a clean chit to the six IIMs. During the inquiry, all six IIMs checked whether there had been any lapses in handling the papers. And it was found that there was no deviation from the established procedure Sources say after the inquiry the IIMs concluded the leak could have taken place at the press as it was only during printing and packing that the IIMs had no control over the procedure. As per the norm, no outsider was allowed inside the press during printing and packing. Printing took two weeks and packing another one after which the IIMs took over.Sources added that so far nobody from the CBI, which is conducting its own inquiry, had contacted the IIM-A authorities for information.
