After presenting yet another evidence to establish Sanjeev Saxena’s links with Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, the BJP on Wednesday demanded that the SP leader be “immediately” summoned by the parliamentary committee probing the cash-for-vote scam.

“The investigation cannot be completed without the examination of Amar Singh by the committee as all these activities took place around him,” said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar.

The BJP also produced a copy of the letter purportedly written by the SP leader to a Delhi University college, stating that Saxena’s son be admitted under sports category into the college.

Saxena, who delivered the cash to three BJP MPs in the cash-for-votes scam, has reportedly told the parliamentary panel that he worked only “casually” for Amar Singh.

The BJP also alleged that Saxena had “mislead” the seven-member parliamentary committee. “This is a patent falsehood indulged in by Sanjiv Saxena in front of the committee. We expect the committee to take this matter into cognisance,” said another BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad. Amar Singh had earlier stated that Saxena left him on July 20 along with Shahid Siddiqui who quit the SP to join the BSP.
