May 1: Rima alias Sharda Saware, a 20-year-old woman residing in Vaiduwadi area of Hadapsar who was nine-month pregnant, died yesterday due to the alleged negligent attitude of some doctors of a Hadapsar-based hospital.Acting on a complaint lodged by Sharda's husband Pandurang Govind Saware, the Wanowrie police have charged two doctors from the Sane Guruji Hospital and their subordinates with causing the housewife's death due to their negligence (Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code).The FIR lodged in this connection said, Sharda, who had registered her name with the hospital for delivery was hospitalised around 11 pm after she suffered from dehydration. Within an hour after being admitted to the hospital she was declared dead, the police said.Saware has alleged in his complaint that Sharda died due to the negligence shown by two doctors at the hospital.Dr S S Divekar, who was present in the hospital at the time of the incident took place, claimed that Sharda, who was brought to hospital around 11.45 pm, had died before reaching there.He said he himself and his two colleagues employed sophisticated equipment used to check the heart beats to convince her relatives when they refused to believed that she was dead.Since the reason of Sharda's death was not known, the hospital authorities tipped off the Wanowrie police and sent the body for post-mortem as per the laid down norms, he added.He said the hospital authorities were checking the records to verify the claim by Sharda's relatives that she had registered herself with the hospital for delivery.
