Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, facing flak for addressing a congregation in Dixie Gurdwara in Canada with ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ slogan in the backdrop, today said he failed to read the writing on the wall. When reminded that an AICC spokesperson had said it was a ‘‘genuine mistake,’’ the CM said, “Yes, it was a genuine mistake. I did not see the slogan on the wall. Next time I will look at the walls first,’’ he said.
“Look for something positive… see how the CM of a secular party could give a nationalist agenda while speaking from a spot once considered the hotbed of militancy,” he said.
