KHARAR, June 12: The District Health Department has launched a special campaign to check adulteration in eatables in Roopnagar district and about 50 samples of different food articles were taken by a team of doctors from various parts of the district during the last fortnight.

Roopnagar civil surgeon Dr Rajinder Singh told ENS that a team of doctors led by Dr. A. P. Chaudhary (District Health Officer) and comprising Dr. A. K. Khullar, DIO and Dr. J. S. Cheema, visited Mohali, Naya Gaon, Kansal, Kiratpur Sahib, Anandpur Sahib and Bharatgarh townships in the district. They took samples of different eatables including milk, milk products, soft drinks, mineral water and sweets etc. which have been sent for laboratory examination.

He further stated that the campaign would continue in future too so as to check this trend of adulteration in food articles. The civil surgeon has cautioned people selling food article not to sell adulterated items and to co-operate with the Health authorities to check the menace. He has also called upon the residents to involve themselves in the campaign launched by the Health department.
