COLOMBO, JUNE 10: In an attempt to keep off prying bookies, the Pakistan cricket team, which arrived here yesterday on a tour of Sri Lanka, has beep kept under a thick security blanket at the hotel with instructions to screen all phone calls before they are connected.

The state-run Daily News, quoting the manager of the five-star hotel where the team is staying, said the hotel has been given strict instructions to follow certain procedures before the calls are connected.

These procedures are being followed after a series of betting scandals involving top players rocked the cricket world where the bookies were found to be in constant touch with top players using mobile phones, the paper said.
