PUNE, Oct 14: The Lamp Lighting ceremony of the 34th batch of the students of College of Nursing, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was held today. Twenty-eight students of the B Sc Nursing entered the profession. These students joined the B Sc Nursing course in June this year and after a preliminary period of five months theory classes, have for the first time donned the uniform.

Lt Gen B B Dutta, Commandant, AFMC presided over the function. In his speech he said that it was essential to possess considerable intelligence and a sympathetic attitude to become a good nurse. Col Shashi Bala, principal, College of Nursing said that it was a symbolic ceremony and stressed on the importance of integrating knowledge, skill and attitude in the nursing practice. The Florence Nightingale pledge was administered to the cadets by Maj M K Pillai.
