PESHAWAR, NOVEMBER 11: England pacer Andrew Caddick on Saturday denied using foul language against Pakistan during an official hearing, match referee Farrukh Zaman said.
“I called Caddick, England captain Nasser Hussain and coach Duncan Fletcher to explain the incident and will send my report to the Pakistan Cricket Board,” Zaman told reporters after the hearing.
Caddick, 31, reacted sharply after his appeal for caught behind was turned down by umpire Sajjad Asgher on the third day of the four-day game against a Governor’s XI side here on Friday.
“Caddick denied he ever used abusive language against Pakistan and said he did not say whatever the umpire had told,” Zaman said.
Zaman, a former Test player, said he would wait for the umpire’s report and then submit his own report.
“I don’t know what will PCB do, may be they will warn the England team,” zaman said.
Umpire Sajjad Asgher told reporters on Friday that Caddick used foul language against Pakistan.
“I can’t repeat those words because if I do it will cause serious problems for the England team in Pakistan,” Asgher had told reporters.
PCB Chairman General Tauqir Zia said the report would be sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
“Whatever report we get from the match referee we will pass it to ICC because we can’t take action against England players,” Zia told afp.
England management said their captain Nasser Hussain would speak about the incident and hearing after the four-day match.
Hussain was also summoned for a hearing after the third One-Day international against Pakistan in Rawalpindi last month over an alleged display of anger and the breaking of a refrigator’s door in the dressing room after he was given leg before wicket. Hussain, however, escaped punishment.
