That the Bluelines, or rather the private buses, are not only unashamedly breaking laws, but also are becoming blatant in their attitude came to me as a shock.

I have not travelled by Bluelines, but have instead been patronizing Whitelines which I find comparatively better and more disciplined. That they are making money was a well-known fact but that they would become complacent was the last thing one expected.

I reached Shivaji Stadium on January 28 at 4.05 p.m. where I found a Whiteline (DL IP 8319) on route no: 9012 to Rohini. I boarded it seeing that it was partially full, I approached the front seat across the driver.

The conductor shouted at me to go to the back of the bus. I told him that I had to get off at the last stop and that would mean that I would have to experience a lots of jerks. It would also mean that if the bus got crowded I would have to fight my way out.

He was adamant and did not allow me to sit but blocked my way. Annoyed at his behaviour I decided to get off that bus and waitfor the next one. As soon as I got down, I saw two young girls board the bus and directed in the same way fashion by the driver and conductor to the very seat that I had not been allowed to occupy. I would have ignored this had not the driver and conductor jeered at me.

Isn’t there anyone who can save commuters from having to face this kind of humiliation?
