NEW DELHI, October 29: Madhya Pradesh medium pacer Devendra Bundela made short work of the Railways’ top-order, claiming four for 32. The hosts, who won the toss and elected to bat, lost their top five batsmen for a meagre 68 in the 21st over. Despite a 67-run partnership between Yere Goud (38: 1×4, 84b) and Devender Singh (37: 3×4, 76b) for the sixth wicket, a total of 168 for nine in the stipulated 50 overs proved too small for MP, who notched off the runs for the loss of five wickets in only 44.2 overs for a five-wicket win in their Central Zone Ranji one-day game at Karnail Singh Stadium here today.

The wicket played easily. It was the fault of the Railways’ batsmen who went for their strokes too early and perished in the process. Manish Majithia accounted for three batsmen. Rajesh Chauhan cliamed one wicket in his 10 overs while Hirwani had none for 24 from his 10.

Railways had a mishap in the very first over of MP’s innings when wicketkeeper Abhay Sharma took a nasty blow on his left knee and had to be carried to the hospital for x-ray. Skipper Prahlad Rawat donned the gloves in his place. The X-ray, however, showed no serious injury. Abay Sharma has been advised a week’s rest. This means he will not take any further part in the current game.
