The Asian Centre for Human Rights today moved the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to intervene against endangering the life of four-year-old child marathon master Budhia Singh who was induced to run 65 km from Puri to Bhubaneswar in Orissa yesterday.

“It is an act done so rashly or negligently to endanger human life or the personal safety of others as defined under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code”, Suhas Chakma, director of Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR), said.

The ACHR urged the NHRC to direct the state government to register an FIR under Section 336 of the IPC against Orissa’s Sports Minister Debashis Nayak and others who accompanied him during the marathon.
