LONDON, Oct 19: Two of England's leading badminton players were banned from representing their country today after getting in trouble playing with brooms in a hotel in The Netherlands earlier this month. The English Badminton Association said Peter Knowles had been suspended from any England representation until the end of the year and would lose British lottery funding during the suspension. Team-mate Colin Haughton has also been withdrawn from representing England and will lose funding for international tournaments until end November.A federation spokeswoman said the two got into trouble after they raided a cleaners' cupboard near the hotel bar and started playing cricket with the brooms. Both players had been drinking alcohol and were in high spirits, it is reported.
