KURUKSHETRA, June 23: The police recovered a body of Kurukshetra University M.A. (Ancient History) student from room no 32 of Narhari Hostel. The revolver used in the crime was also found lying besides his body.

Initial investigations revealed that the deceased, identified as Rajesh Kumar alias Anoopa of village Surja Khera, district Jind, entered the room of a first-year law student, Sanjeev Kumar, on the midnight of June 21 while Sanjeev was sleeping on the terrace of the hostel building. The deceased was notorious among the students as he used to extort money from them byterrorising them, the sources disclosed.

SP Yashpal Singal said that the deceased was lodged in the district jail for a case of attempt to murder under section 307, for the past four months and was presently on an interim bail, granted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kurukshetra, to take his examinations staring from May 28. The bail had already expired on June 17 and he was supposed to surrender before the court that day, said the police.

Even though it appears to be suicide case, the deceased’s father, Lehna Singh suspected a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the death of his son.
