CHANDIGARH, Aug 30: More than 48 hours after the body of a man, who was apparently strangled, was found, the police are clueless about the murderers.

Police sources said that the deceased, who looked like to be his early 20s, was a rickshaw puller here. The belt which was tied around his neck had Balram Yadav inscribed on it. The police believe that he was strangled with the same belt. About five feet six inches tall and having dark complexion, he probably hailed either from Uttar Pradesh or Bihar.

The body was found in the Sector 10 Leisure Valley on Saturday morning when beat constables were patrolling in the area. It lay under the wooden bridge near a nallah in the valley. He wore brown trousers and a light blue shirt. The victim was not involved in any struggle or scuffle before he was killed. Police sources said that he might have been poisoned before being strangled. While the police have registered a case of murder, there have been no arrests so far as the police are yet to identify the body.

Meanwhile, a few rickshaw pullers identified the body, adding that they did not know much about the deceased except that he was a rickshaw-puller.
