NEW DELHI, February 26: The decomposed body of a girl — aged between 8-10 years — was recovered today from a drain in the north east district. The body is yet to be identified and the police have not been able to connect it to any missing person or kidnapping case.

At around 1.20 p.m. the Police Control Room received a call about a body floating in a drain at Tukmirpur. The Khazuri Khas police and local fire service rushed to the spot and fished it out. The decomposed body bore no external injuries. The girl was wearing a cherry salwar kameez. The body has been sent to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital for a post-mortem.

Khazuri Khas SHO Ashutosh Chatterjee said: “We haven’t been able to make a connection as yet. We have contacted the neighbouring police stations and issued a hue-and-cry notice that is circulated to all police stations. We are now hoping that someone will come forward with some additional information”. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy’s body was discovered in the north west district at 10 a.m. today. It has been identified as that of Vikas, alias Vicky, a resident of Mamurpur village in Narela.

According to the police, the body bore multiple stab wounds on the face and neck. Vikas’ body was recovered from a galli near the DDA flats in the Narela Industrial Area. According to the police, initial investigations revealed that the youth was last seen with Purshottam, who lives nearby. While they are now trying to track him down, they have registered a murder case at the Narela police station.
