MALOUT, Jan 31: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today told mediapersons that a board, headed by the chief secretary, has been constituted to review the cases of innocent Sikh youth languishing in jails.Replying to a question regarding the quashing of the second extension given to DGP P.C. Dogra by a CAT Bench, he said the government would act according to law and honour the judgment.Earlier, addressing a mammoth gathering at the state-level function to observe the 622nd Prakash Utsav of Guru Ravi Dass here, he said the Rs 3,000-crore Thein Dam would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister soon. The dam would generate 600-mw power and Punjab would be able to generate surplus power within two years, he added.Badal said on his request, the Union Finance Minister and the Union Rural Development Minister would visit Kaljhalani in Bathinda district on February 19 to see for themselves the working of the unique training scheme for unemployed rural youth so that a budget provision could be made. Such training centres would be set up at all district headquarters, he added.The Chief Minister said that besides setting up four memorials at Anandpur Sahib, the government would set up four public schools for wards of Scheduled Castes and OBCs. He also announced the setting up of Guru Ravi Dass Bhawans at all district headquarters. The first such Bhawan will be constructed at Malout at a cost of Rs 20 lakh.The Chief Minister said that Guru Ravi Dass professed for a casteless society through his teachings and the real tribute to him would be to follow his teachings.Badal said he had directed all Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to remain in office for four days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and to personally visit the field areas for two days to redress grievances of residents.Vidhan Sabha Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, Ministers Gurdev Singh Badal and Gobind Singh Kangla, MLAs Manpreet Singh, Makhan Singh and Sher Singh and Surinder Kaur Badal, the Chief Minister's wife, were present on the occasion.
