MUMBAI, OCT 17: Maharashtra Environment and Forest Minister Chandrakant Khaire has directed a probe into the death of the black buck in official custody during transit after Salim Khan met him today.``Since Khan has made specific allegations, I have asked Thane Range Chief Conservator of Forest V K Mohan into the allegations. Mohan, who has been asked to visit Panvel tomorrow, will also probe into the causes of death of the wild animal. Once we receive Mohan's report, we will decide future course of action,'' Khaire said.Khan called on the forest minister accompanied by noted cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar. Both Khan and Vengsarkar are the members of the Vrindavan Cooperative Horticulture Society, part of which has been sealed by the forest officials under the Maharashtra Private Forest Acquisition Act and Forest Conservation Act.The death of one of the animals in official custody came as a twist to the story, which Khan apparently levered to a small advantage today by asking Khaire to conduct ahigh-level probe into the death of the black buck in official custody. In another startling claim, the controversial script writer told the Forest Minister that the animals were not in his captivity at all as was stated by the officials.Forest Minister Khaire told The Indian Express, ``Salim Khan, against whom an offence under the Wild Life Protection Act has been registered for keeping wild animals under captivity, informed me that he was innocent and that he has been wrongly implicated.''
