The Congress policy of “minority appeasement”, revoking of the TADA and POTA and the recent arrests of terrorists in the state figure prominently in advertisements released by the BJP for its campaign in Karnataka. Though BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said that the major issue in the forthcoming polls would be the failure of the UPA Government to control the price rise, the party’s advertisements in the regional newspapers focus on terror attacks instead.

On Tuesday, BJP’s advertisement — ‘Why is Karnataka becoming a safe haven for terrorists?’ — appeared in leading Kannada dailies, with pictures of BJP general secretary H N Ananth Kumar, state president Sadananda Gowda and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. “Should future generations count the dead falling prey to terrorists with their arms tied or should they vote against the Congress?” the advertisement said.
