CALCUTTA, APRIL 18: 8220;The BJP will come back to power again, of course, whether by reinstatement or by an election, I am not in a position to explain now,8221; said Dr Murli Manohar Joshi here this afternoon.

The former BJP president and the HRD Minister of the caretaker government, Joshi was replying to a question during a press conference if his party was readying for election.

He claimed that 8220;the allies are with us and the party office-bearers are meeting today in Delhi to decide the future course of action.8221; He however told reporters at the Press Club that the BJP would go to the people.

Saying that 8220;the deep and inherent contradictions will not allow the next government to last long and the nation would be forced into another election,8221; Joshi said: 8220;They should answer the people for draining the nation of its financial resources.8221;

Elaborating his point, he said: 8220;The budget and finance bill have to be approved and if they fail to come up with an alternative political arrangement immediately,there will be an economic chaos.8221;

He said the political profligacy8217; with which both the Congress, the CPIM and the CPI had brought down the government without any alternative arrangement, has already began telling on the economic and political health of the country.

Urging the President, KR Narayanan to use the same method for the test of majority for the next government, Dr Joshi said: 8220;The President must see that the leader who would head the next government must have the list of more than 270 MPs pledging support to the leader in writing.8221;

Attacking the Congress and the CPIM 8220;for having plunged the nation into deep economic and political crisis by throwing out the BJP-led coalition without any genuine issue,8221; Joshi, flanked by state BJP leaders, said: 8220;These parties have allowed lust for power to get the better of national priorities and ousted a government without any prior arrangement of filling in the vacuum,8221; he said.

Disagreeing with the suggestion from the Press that the8220;President had played into the hands of Opposition,8221; he said: 8220;We have faith in his wisdom and respect his institution.8221;

He said the toppling of the BJP-led coalition has exposed the Congress and the CPIM, that 8220;for power they could even gamble with the people and nation.8221;

Dr Joshi, who was in town to be present in the annual Keshab Baliram Hedgewar memorial award giving function today, said: 8220;Even all the constituents of the Left Front are not willing to toe the CPIM line. Both the Revolutionary Socialist Party and the Forward Bloc have declined to back a Congress-led Government,8221; he added.
