The only rebel face in the Chhattisgarh BJP seems to have been pacified. Senior BJP tribal leader and Lok Sabha member Bali Ram Kashyap, who was unhappy with the ticket distribution, said he has no complaints now. This was because his son has been promised a ticket, sources said.
Last week, Kashyap had accused former BJP chief Lakhi Ram Aggarwal of influencing the ticket distribution and had threatened to take up the issue with Deputy PM L.K. Advani if the state unit failed to resolve the matter.
After meeting BJP organising secretary Sanjay Joshi yesterday, Kashyap appeared pacified. BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan, who was sent by the party to resolve the crisis, has summoned Kashyap to Delhi on October 2 to discuss the campaign in tribal areas. Kashyap has also been told that his decision on the distribution of party tickets in Bastar will be final.
‘‘Since the party has agreed to listen to my views and allot tickets to candidates accordingly, I have no grievance,’’ Kashyap said. This evening, BJP national vice-president Karuna Shukla announced that over 70 tickets have been finalised and the list will be declared in New Delhi on November 4.
