BJP gets it from RSS: Quit protest over fuel price hike, it lacks honesty

A day before the BJP embarks on a high-profile “satyagraha” under the NDA banner to protest the hike in fuel prices, the RSS made its disapproval known, saying such “protests lack intellectual honesty”.

The Sangh asked the BJP to direct its governments in states to reduce fuel prices rather than block roads.

The RSS mouthpiece Organiser, in an editorial, said: “The BJP can make a beginning instead of protesting on the street by stopping the wheels and adding to the common man’s misery. The party can walk the talk by asking its state governments to reduce levies and show the way… Political parties cannot have it both ways. That is why we say these protests lack intellectual honesty.”

“Political farce cannot be more brazen. The CPI(M) is protesting fuel price hike as if the BJP is in power. The Congress is protesting as if it is the NDA which is ruling. Sonia Gandhi protests as if Atal Behari Vajpayee is still running the country,” the editorial stated.

Vajpayee is expected to lead the “satyagraha” by NDA leaders while the BJP organises “chakka-jaam” across the country.
