After weighing its options till Wednesday, the last day of filing nominations, the BJP fielded its candidates in the two prestige seats of Godhra and Matar. Prabhatsinh Chauhan, the three-time winner from Kalol, will contest in Godhra. The party also fielded Congress rebel Devisinh Chauhan from Matar to take on Congress strongman Narhari Amin.

Meanwhile, the Congress is drawing from the NCP’s kitty to challenge the BJP. In Raopura, Congress has pitted veteran politician Sanat Mehta’s daughter-in-law Purnima Mehta against four-time BJP MLA Yogesh Patel. Devgadh Baria, Dahod is also witnessing similar arrangement. Congress ceded the seat to the NCP’s royal candidate Tushar Singh.
