The BJP today decided to focus on the links of UPA leaders with the Telgi scam and the issue of ‘‘communalisation’’ of NCERT textbooks in the ongoing parliamentary session.

The BJP parliamentary party, which met here this morning, also decided to corner Tourism Minister Renuka Chowdhury for having allegedly written to the Defence Minister over the purchase of a Russian gun.

Former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee told the members that the budget gives an opportunity to the Opposition to raise issues concerning their constituents and highlight the weaknesses of the Government.

As for the UPA proposal to raise FDI cap in civil aviation, telecom and insurance sectors, Malhotra said the BJP will firm up its view after talking to other NDA members.

However, sources say, the BJP was waiting for the Left to take a clear position on the issue. ‘‘Let them make it clear, who do they stand for, their own principles or the UPA Government,’’ a senior party leader said. The BJP calculation is just in case the Left decides to vote against the FDI cap increase, the NDA, rather than bailing out the UPA Government, would vote against it.
