Succumbing to pressure from party MLAs, Chief Minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik on Friday accepted the resignation of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) president Atanu Sabyasachi.

Sources said that the next BYJD president will be appointed from among the MLAs. Patnaik will take the decision after discussion with MLAs and other senior leaders.

As many as 28 young MLAs led by Debasis Nayak had submitted a memorandum to Patnaik demanding Atanu’s ouster and appointment of a MLA in his place.
