CHANDIGARH, March 15: Former president of the Indian Youth Congress Maninderjit Singh Bitta held the Congress leadership responsible for the rout of the party during the recent Lok Sabha elections in Punjab in which it lost all 13 seats.Speaking to mediapersons here, Bitta regretted that instead of learning lessons from previous defeats such as during Assembly elections last year and taking steps to stem the rot, the leadership was further enfeebling the party through short-sighted and selfish actions. He said, loyal members whose families had made sacrifices during the freedom movement and terrorism were being sidelined while genuine workers were being thrown out and being threatened with expulsions.
