Fearing arrest by the CBI in the Bilkis case, Chandubhai Patel, an executive magistrate from Limkheda Taluka in Dahod District, has filed for an anticipatory bail application. The plight of Bilkis, raped when she was five months pregnant while 14 of her family were murdered, was first highlighted by The Indian Express.The court had earlier rejected the anticipatory bail plea of three policemen, including a DSP, who were part of the initial investigating team which had also conducted the burial of Bilkis’s seven relatives at Panivela forest, the site of the massacre. — (PTI)
