An alert has been sounded across Bihar on the directive of the union home ministry in the wake of Friday’s coordinated blasts in Bangalore that killed two persons and injured 12 others.

District magistrates and superintendents of police of all districts were asked to intensify patrolling in sensitive areas and enhance security at vital installations, sources in the state police headquarters said.

Additional security personnel were deployed at airports, railway stations and bus terminals to guard against any threat from militant outfits.

Personnel from the police department and special branch have been asked to keep a strict vigil at markets, busy thoroughfares, places of worship and other crowded places vulnerable to terrorist attacks.

Patrolling of railway tracks has also been increased, the sources said. Security along the nearly 750 km-long Indo-Nepal border has been beefed up to prevent any infiltration attempt from across the border, they said.

Police in the districts bordering Nepal have been asked to work in close coordination with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and share intelligence inputs to thwart any attempt by the disruptive elements to disturb peace, the sources said.
